"Murder for Diversion" The first Jacob Blake Pharma Mystery by John Snyder

I started the QAPharm Blog three years ago as a creative outlet to share my perspective on the pharma industry and the quality assurance profession. I have appreciated my faithful readers from dozens of countries around the world.

As many of my readers have noted, I took a hiatus from blogging for a year. During that time I wrote the first "whodunit" murder mystery ever set the the pharmaceutical industry.

Murder for Diversion by John Snyder is the first Jacob Blake murder murder mystery, and it is available at Amazon for your Kindle. I hope you enjoy it.

Just like my blog, it is infused with my experience in the pharmaceutical industry, but it is a true work of fiction. All places, events and characters are the product of my imagination.

Here's a little bit about my book and protagonist Jacob Blake.

Jacob Blake is reinventing himself.  He's an expert in pharmaceutical manufacturing quality, but his career and his life is at a crossroads, when an uncle dies and leaves him property in, of all places, Texas. He drives cross-country, thinking that maybe this is a sign, a direction for him to go.  But his old life calls, and his ex-boss and nemesis in Philadelphia asks him to take a look at a mystery.  His first inclination is to not look back, then his old boss is suddenly dead, leading Jacob into a world of shady dealings, and murder.  This is the first in a planned series looking at what the public doesn't know about how the drugs they take every day are made and following a character in his journey of re-creation and life renewal.

So, if the book was written by John Snyder and I am QA Pharm, then QA Pharm must be John Snyder.

I hope you enjoy the book and continue to check in with me here at The QA Pharm.

I am very happy to know you.

  1. John, I am enjoying you book tremendously! I have been in the Pharma QA arena for 30 years and I can completely relate to Jacob and his level of frustration with the movers and shakers of the industry!

I must say that you plot-line caught me by surprise a few times but that is a good thing! I am looking forward to your next book in the Jacob Blake series - hope I don't have to wait too long!

  2. Greetings from Sri Lanka!!

I just finished reading this book and I loved it..........It's actually my lunch break and I couldnt wait till I got back home to finish the last 3 chapters on the Kindle.

I work at a pharmaceutical company and I could totally relate to all the QA matters you were talking about......it gets even better, our head of FR&D is also Praveen, though of a different surname......haha

Congrats on an amazing book. Thoroughly enjoyed it and have blanket emailed everyone at the company to read it.

Really looking forward to the sequel

    Best regards

PS: Is the book available as a paperback or hardback. Currently I only see it as kindle edition. I'd like to gift it to some of my colleagues if a paperback version is available.

    1. Thank you very much, Zam! I am so pleased that you enjoyed my book and are recommending it to others. It is only an e-book at this time for your Kindle, or Kindle app on your iPad.

I am working on the sequel. It starts with Jacob Blake waiting for the elusive Rudy Langevin on the River Street Bridge in Cambridge, MA over the Charles River.

Be sure to leave a comment on Amazon about my book! Thank you very much!

  3. Hello Mr. Snyder,

I read your book a few months ago and have been busy with this and that. I wanted to tell you I loved the book- and it extends not just to Pharmaceutical Quality but in any industry where using Quality as a driver is difficult.
    Also, love your blog.

    1. Thank you, Jasmine. I'm really glad that you enjoyed it. My book was a work of love. I started writing the sequel, but I am distracted at the moment with another piece. I have been invited to write the chapter on Management Responsibility and Control for an upcoming text/ reference book.

I need to retire so that I have more time with Jacob Blake's adventures!! The book is loosely based on my life and move to Texas from Philadelphia. But it is truly a work of fiction. That said---many people write to me and identify with the struggle. ---John
